Fujian Province Launches “One Product, One Code” System for Aquatic Products

On the afternoon of January 4, the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau held Aquatic products Launch Conference for the Full-Process Traceability System of Quality and Safety Based on “One Product, One Code”

　　At the press conference, Lin Xineng, Director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries, stated that the department has always attached great importance to the quality and safety of aquatic products. As early as 2011, it took the lead nationwide in piloting the establishment of an aquatic-product traceability management platform, standardizing traceability labels and promoting end-to-end traceability for aquatic-product quality and safety. To date, more than 200 aquaculture enterprises and over 60 varieties of aquatic products have been incorporated into the traceability system. Since 2018, the department has conscientiously implemented the provincial Party Committee and provincial government’s directives on “one product, one code” full-chain traceability management for food safety. In collaboration with the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation and the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, it has established a coordinated system linking origin certification for aquatic products with market access requirements, completed the development of the “one product, one code” traceability system, and conducted comprehensive training programs for quality-and-safety regulators, technical personnel, and production and business entities, thereby laying a solid foundation for the official launch of the system and the full-scale rollout of traceability management.

　　According to reports, Fujian Province Aquatic Products The “One Product, One Code” full-chain traceability system for quality and safety covers all stages, including aquaculture, primary processing, fisheries harvesting, at-sea procurement, product coding and sales, regulatory oversight by competent authorities, rapid testing for pesticide and veterinary drug residues, laboratory analysis, supervisory enforcement, price monitoring, and policy publicity. The official launch of this system marks the entry of Fujian Province’s aquatic product quality and safety into the era of code-based regulation, thereby fulfilling the fundamental requirements of “traceability from source to destination, controllable risks, and public participation.”
