The 2019 Annual Academic Conference on Aquatic Product Processing and Comprehensive Utilization of the Chinese Society for Fisheries Was Successfully Held.
On December 11, 2019, the 2019 Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Fisheries on Aquatic Product Processing and Comprehensive Utilization was successfully held at the Conference Center of the Huanghai Hotel in Qingdao. The conference was organized by the Aquatic Product Processing and Comprehensive Utilization Branch of the Chinese Society of Fisheries, hosted by Ocean University of China, and co-organized by the Shandong Provincial Demonstration Engineering Research Center for Marine Food Technology and the Shandong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Biomanufacturing of Marine Foods.

Aquatic product supply continues to rise, driving increased demand for cold-chain logistics.
Recently, the 20th China International Maritime Exhibition was held in Shanghai. During the event, it was announced that China will establish 300 “offshore mobile aquaculture farms,” thereby creating a deep-sea aquaculture industrial chain that encompasses fish farming, harvesting, and processing. In recent years, Chinese consumers’ demand for aquatic products has risen, accelerating the growth of the country’s aquatic-product market. Meanwhile, the rapid development of the cold-chain logistics sector has laid a solid foundation for the expansion of this market.

Co-hosted by the China Fisheries Association and Fujian Huiyuan International Exhibition Co., Ltd., with support from the Fujian Provincial Fisheries Professional Association, the “China (Fuzhou) International Fisheries Expo” (hereinafter referred to as the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo) will be held from May 30 to June 1, 2019, at the Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Center, showcasing an exhibition area of 46,000 square meters.

Fujian Province Vigorously Promotes the Transformation and Upgrading of the Marine and Fisheries Economy
Fujian is a major province in terms of the production, consumption, and export of aquatic products. It is estimated that in 2018 the total output value of Fujian’s fisheries economy reached RMB 300 billion, with a total aquatic product output of 7.78 million tonnes and an average per capita net income of RMB 21,417 for fishermen. The implementation of a series of key marine-fisheries projects has not only laid the foundation for developing a modern fisheries sector characterized by innovation, harmony, green practices, openness, and shared benefits, but has also made significant contributions to ensuring the supply of aquatic products, increasing fishermen’s incomes, and promoting overall economic and social development.
Cold-Chain Logistics Safeguards Aquatic Product Transportation; Fisheries Output Exceeds RMB 200 Billion
Currently, the steady improvement in Chinese residents’ living standards has spurred the expansion of the food consumption market, bringing favorable prospects to the aquatic products sector as well. According to publicly available data, total output value of the fisheries economy across society reached RMB 2.476122 trillion in 2017, with fisheries production accounting for RMB 1.231385 trillion and the combined output value of fisheries distribution and service industries totaling RMB 678.076 billion. Today, with advances in refrigeration technology, cold storage has become one of the primary methods for the circulation of aquatic products. The report “The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture” published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations also notes that cold storage has emerged as the leading processing method for fish intended for human consumption, followed by cold

Fujian Province Launches “One Product, One Code” System for Aquatic Products
On the afternoon of January 4, the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau held a press conference to mark the official launch of the “One Product, One Code” full-chain traceability system for aquatic product quality and safety. At the press conference, Lin Xinen, Director of the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau, stated that the bureau has always attached great importance to the quality and safety of aquatic products. As early as 2011, it took the lead nationwide in exploring and establishing an aquatic product traceability management platform, standardizing traceability identification labels, and promoting traceable management of aquatic product quality and safety. To date, more than 200 aquaculture enterprises and over 60 types of aquatic products have been incorporated into the traceability system. Since 2018, the bureau has conscientiously implemented the provincial Party Committee and provincial government’s policy on food safety—“One Product, One Code”—
