2019 is destined to be an extraordinary year: the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo has undergone a comprehensive upgrade, further advancing its market-oriented and professional development. Co-hosted by the China Fisheries Association and Fujian Huiyuan International Exhibition Co., Ltd., with support from the Fujian Provincial Fisheries Professional Association, the “China (Fuzhou) International Fisheries Expo” (hereinafter referred to as the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo) will be held from May 30 to June 1, 2019, at the Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Center, showcasing an exhibition area of 46,000 square meters.
Co-hosted by China’s fisheries associations, the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo has successfully been accredited by the Ministry of Commerce as a specialized fisheries trade show and designated as an international professional exhibition approved by the Ministry of Commerce for Fujian Province. Moreover, this year it achieved, for the first time, fully commercialized exhibitor recruitment across the entire exhibition hall. The Fuzhou Fisheries Expo has thus taken another significant step forward in terms of specialization and internationalization, marking a milestone in deepening market engagement and expanding international outreach going forward.
The press conference for the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo was held in Fuzhou today. At the conference, Yan Keshi, Vice Mayor of Fuzhou, stated that the Cross-Strait (Fuzhou) Fisheries Week—China (Fuzhou) International Fisheries Expo has been successfully held in Fuzhou for ten consecutive sessions, with its scale expanding year by year and its influence steadily growing, thereby establishing itself as a leading specialized fisheries trade show in China.
The Fisheries Week is co-hosted by the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, the Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries, the Office of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, the 21st Century Maritime Cooperation Committee, and the China Fisheries Association. It features five thematic exhibition halls: the “Maritime Fuzhou” pavilion, the Fujian Modern Fisheries Hall, the Deep- and Far-Sea Aquaculture Equipment Exhibition Hall, the “Rice-Fish Co-culture” Demonstration Hall, and the Fujian–Taiwan Leisure Fisheries Hall.
Since 2019, the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo has undergone a comprehensive market-oriented reform, representing an important step taken by the Fuzhou Municipal Government in implementing the State Council’s directive to shift government-sponsored exhibitions toward a more market-driven model. Judging from the results of investor and exhibitor recruitment, this year’s market-oriented transformation of the Expo is progressing smoothly and delivering significant outcomes: nearly 400 companies from 34 countries and regions—including Japan, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia—are participating, with overseas and out-of-province exhibitors accounting for 56% of the total; during the event, approximately 13,000 domestic and international trade visitors are expected to attend for procurement and business negotiations.
